Designing interiors is no longer only about materials, finishes, space planning and beautiful furniture; but it is now looking into how people work, integrating systems thinking with activities etc.

What is your opinion?

    It is important for interior designers to care for these factors which are the materials, finishes, space planning, and beautiful furniture. For designers to decide on the four factors mentioned before, it is necessary for them to get to know about the target users and its surrounding. Only after knowing who the target users are and what they want and need, it makes sure what kind of materials, finishes, spaces planning, and furniture that are needed for this particular interior space. Each user has their own needs and wants, and it has to complement the interior design for the space to be nice and comfortable for them.

    The flow of the space will be different and based on the user’s needs. There are also other factors that must be considered by knowing the user’s needs, such as the public and private space, the acoustic privacy, and more. Only after all the considerations have been made by knowing what exactly the users want and need, designers can choose the materials, finishes, space planning, and furniture that will complement the users.

    The importance of interior design nowadays is to make sure the space is efficient and comfortable for them to stay. Staying in a space where everything's made to be matched with one's own lifestyle and needs improve their quality of life.
